We all meet here in the forum - but we live in very different countries, and the nature everywhere has its unique beauty, even city landscapes can be enchanting.

I want to share some of the Mediterranean spring here :)

I could go for some Mediterranean spring weather right now Apache! Or some snow.

Right now, it's evening. Though it's been pretty humid during the day, and it's meant to be well into autumn. :S

Wet and cool, typical Oregon spring.
Great weather for bug hunts.

I saw a salamandra a while ago, but I didn't take a photo, I should have done it if only for you Raiden!

Hey there! I know, I've missed you. :)

Not really, it got to 28 degrees Celsius, but that's pretty mild. I like the colours from those tress in the middle pic Apache. The first tree has vivid pink leaves and the other has maroon ones.

@Pa'li Makto: irayo :)
Yes I love these trees in the middle picture, too! the pink one has flowers like carnations, and the one with marron leaves is a variety of a cherry tree. Some time ago they only had flowers but no leaves yet, and it seems like a long pink cloud along the street (cos there are many trees of this kind in the street).
About humidity - in Dubai, in the heat of summer it was 40-45ºC or more, regularly, and it was so humid that you would be soaked as soon as you're out in the street! Your bag, your hair, your sunglasses... everything! this combined with air conditioning up to the freezing point in any closed space was a sure way to colds :(

@Raiden: the salamandra was black with yellow spots, was it a Fire Salamandra? It was a few weeks ago, it was just out of hibernation and looked a bit boggle-minded, when I stroked it it didn't even react. So I left it in peace in its bush house. Next time I take a photo and ask You for the name!

Here, it was a right beachy weather for a couple of weeks but today the temperatures started to drop rather sharply & now it looks like rain :( no beach. Sniff.

Hoho!

Nice find. That would indeed be something in genus Salamandra.

One thing about salamanders, though; they breathe through their skin, so you need to be careful about touching them. Even the normal amount of skin oils on your fingers irritates them, and if you put lotion on your hands recently, you could even make them sick.

If you do see a salamander (or any amphibian) that you would like to pick up and look at, it's a good idea to wash your hands and rinse them very well (if at home) or to wet your hands in nearby water before touching it.

You should take some photos though; fire salamanders are something I've been wanting to keep for a long time, and while captive-bred specimens (not taken from the wild) are more available than ever, they aren't allowed to be kept in my state because they could become invasive.

these are from New Orleans, compliments MOMS (his crazy schedules don't allow him to post his own bugs!)

Hmm... I wouldn't try to stroke this one, either!

Irayo for posting this Apache. Working too much and too many interests. TOS is tops though.
Yes I had three alligators. This one's name is Give Over. He's dug a little next into the island that is in the middle of my pond. I have a bridge that crosses over to it. He has two bigger (older) kin, One is from another species. Give Over. (G.O.) is about 4 feet long. The next biggest one is Piss Off (P.O.) and he (she?) is about 5 feet long. The largest is F^&* Off (F.O.) he is about 6 feet long. P.O. and F.O. are gone now. I guess there isn't enough of my smaller clawed friends or big fish to support all 3. A new smaller one I call Buddy about 2 feet long has made my pond his home.

I have Blue Herons, Egrets, Duck bill egrets, and Ibis's that feed on the crawfish in and around my pond. The crawfish even make treks across the road to come over to the pond. I guess the word got out on good close digs.
I'll take some pictures of the pond and give them to Apache since she is better at posting them than me of the birds and wildlife. It's my little Pandora right beside the house. I can look out the window and see it. It's about an acre in size.

Irayo,

MOMS

P.S. I might even be able to post pictures of the Ball if it even has a place on TOS for them

oh yes, it's this cute one! I liked this bug :) was it (in Sol Duc) an adult or a baby?

Here in Catalonia / Spain* it's finally getting summery, although for the last week it was about 8-10ºC in the morning going up to 20-23ºC in the afternoon. So i would leave the house in a jacket & end up in a T-shirt by midday. But now it is getting warmer, which is nice.
*Catalonia Is Not Spain! - this is what graffiti says. I am sure they're right :S

Yeah MOMS has a jungle close, & lots of Pandora-like sounds where he lives! :awesome: but one should watch one's step of course there are LOADS of bugs there, of all kinds!

But he is on the forum once in a blue moon... is your moon blue now, MOMS?

Speaking of weather, it has been far too dry here.

Normally, May still has plenty of soggy, wet weather, but the high for the last two weeks exceeded 80 deg. F multiple times, with no precipitation whatsoever.

This impacts me directly, because I'm raising some salamander and newt larvae, and I was catching aquatic invertebrates for them to eat from a vernal pool near my house; the pool usually sticks around until June, but it dried up two weeks ago, and I've been have to really scrounge around to find things for my larvae to eat. At this rate, I'll have to attempt to feed them store-bought things, which doesn't always work well.

And, I'll bet anyone any amount of money that the unusual weather patterns that have put me in this position are the results of climate change.
