The VIVID festival has just wrapped up in Sydney. I've never been before, but was "persuaded" into it this year, and I'm really glad I did as I must admit, the light art was incredible, and I wanted to share this piece from Central Station. It was incredibly moving, teary and gut wrenching yet also hopeful. Link to video on Peertube - sorry for terrible handheld phone video that doesn't do it justice! I wasn't expecting to be impressed by the city so didn't bother taking a real camera :D

Nellies Glen, Blue Mountains, NSW. The track here connects the Megalong Valley below to the top of the cliffs, and is one of the few routes into the valley that was possible for horses to traverse. The Dharug people did not use pack animals prior to European colonisation, and most of their ancient tracks were thus often far too steep or narrow for horse or donkey traffic. The valley was of little interest to the Europeans for settlement, but they learned the area was rich in coal and shale, and mining was attempted. The extreme geography made mining, slow, difficult and costly in both life and money, and within a few decades the attempt was abandoned - leaving the Six Foot Track behind.

You know that fancy Windows 10 feature where the background of the log-in screen changes every once in a while? There is a way to capture those images. This is what I got today. I had to look twice to be sure it wasn't from Pandora.

Mount Tomah Botanic Gardens - Upper Blue Mountains, NSW. These gardens are the highest altitude botanical gardens in Australia, over 1000m above sea level. This gives them an unusual subtropical highland climate. Unlike other areas of the upper mountains, it still gets a lot of coastal rainfall

Really, really lovely pictures. Thank you for sharing! I added the Botanic Garden to my Australia list. :)
They've got a few sites... Tomah is definitely the most dramatic, but Mount Annan is pretty good too. I've got trip planned there for the next few weeks so will grab some pics :)

Wanted to share some pics of mine, but wasn't able because it says ''File is too large'' so renounced.
I upped the size limit for attachments to 10mb - if it's still too large I'd suggest making the pictures smaller before uploading, but try again to see if it's working now :)

Coral reef of Lord Howe Island, NSW. The southernmost tropical coral reef on Earth, and treasured by marine conservation teams as a "refuge" for coral species from ocean heating further north. Photo by Jordan Robins.

Happy Valley, NSW. Less of a bushwalk and more of a scramble to get here. A happy place.
