For those who don't know, yesterday was Lego Con, where Lego announces all sorts of new things for the upcoming year. Why this matters for us is that Jon Landau and Josh Izzo both appeared to talk about Avatar and specifically one of the upcoming sets, Toruk Makto and Tree of Souls. So yes ToS has made it big time now, forever immortalized in an Avatar Lego set. :D

I really appreciate how they went for Na'vi designs rather than the more obvious RDA equipment which would be far easier to design for Lego sets. This feels a lot more unique to Avatar - really cool!

Yes they truly won me over by giving them extended legs, arms, a tail, even a new unique head. They seem to be going that extra mile, I didn't think they'd put that much effort into making the Na'vi side of things unique. As excited as I am for new Avatar content, it's so great seeing them revisit the original movie first.

Good to see there is now even more ammunition in the discussion against those that argue that "Avatar left no pop cultural impact" :)

I used to play with Lego a lot when I was younger. In fact, it was the stories that I invented together with my younger brother for our Lego creations that awakened my general interest in writing stories. I never did realize before now that Avatar didn't already have Lego sets from 2009. That was already after my time, unfortunately.

I think that if Disney had been in charge of the marketing for the first Avatar that it would have had a bigger "pop culture impact" because there would have been Avatar stuff everywhere. When the House of Mouse originally bought Fox and thus the rights to Avatar, the first thing I thought was "oooh I can't wait for all of the Avatar stuff for the next movie!!"

Lego teasing Way of Water Sets.
Looks like Kiri is confirmed to be a minifig in the next wave.
That's not shocking, but it's still cool to see.
