I know it's early, but I just wanted a proper place to discuss the Clan cosplay that's been proposed for the 2012 meetup and get the word out. The more Na'vi the better. The tentative dates are now July 19-23.

As the meetup is closer, the specific day will be chosen, with weather taken into account of coarse. Rain's the worst nightmare of all waterbased make up users.

I will no longer be updating this list, since that is now automatically done on the roll call list of avatarmeet.com, but I'll still encourage discussion, and will still be around for questions or whatever. (I still love progress pictures!)

Hhhnnnn.....

I guess you should put me on for "full native"....

I just shudder at what my family will think of this when they eventually find out what I'm gonna do.... >.>

I like this! I'm going try my hardest to get myself and my outfit together in time for the meetup. I think Misstammie mentioned something about dressing up to me, but I'll check with her to make sure first.

I have a counterpart board on Learn Na'vi and will be regularly maintaining both. If you want me to add or remove your username, PM me or comment here, keep in mind your username will appear in both Forums.

Hey Sarah,

I am actually looking at doing the avatar, I don't know if I will be where I want in my new body yet but definitely gonna do the avatar for now. Any help I can get with the painting and all I would really appreciate it. I haven't done the body painting thing before, just dressing up a lot in the past. Any advice would be great. ;):D

Live your life. It is short. You will never please everyone. I try to do three things everyday. Make the world a better place (many ways to do this), learn something, and HAVE FUN! Nothing else makes any sense to me.

Irayo:rolleyes:

Irayo nìtxan for this thread Sarah! Put me down as 'avatar' :)

I think it might also be good to note down equipment and things that we can share. I'm planning on taking a big suitcase of goodies including (but not limited to) my airbrush compressor and some spare prosthetic accessories. You're all welcome to use my stuff as required, just leave me what I need.

Thank you for offering use of your equipment ISV! May take you up on that offer in Seattle. Txantsan! ;):)

Sweet! Irayo for your generosity! I'm still unsure about what kind of paint to use and what method I'm going to use to apply it, but it's nice to know that someone will have an air compressor if needed. :)

We should just call it the Complete and Total Takeover of Seattle by a Large Group of Avatar Nerds. Hell yeah!! :war: :xD:

I'll bring an airbrush and compressor too. Extra prosthetics (spare Reelmagik tail), paint, ect. What do you use for a sealer for the paint?

We, you I and whoever else, need volunteers to help. Sarah has Moco Loco, I was VERY lucky to have James of Terra. They also serve as out "purses". Do you have anyone to shoot you?

I don't know how comfortable people would be in the same room. Logistics of certain people may be hard. It would blow my mind to morph with some else at the same time. Plus we could critique each other and improve our costumes. Also sharing knowledge and experience would help a lot. I've done this now 4 times. Latex the first time and it was awful.

The more hands, experience, knowledge the better! James of Terra and I at 3 AM to do mine. How long does it take you?

My schedule will be something like this:

T - 2d

Remove body hair

Sleep

T -1d

Body paint application (inc stripes and fluorescent dots) up to neck.

Sleep

T - 6h (or so)

Everything else.

Do you use PAX or water based paints? I'm down to where I have to shave a few days in advance. I keep it down now. It takes about 6 hours for me too. Are you bringing someone to help you? The more hands the better.

ISV Venture Star, what sort of makeup do you use, how does it not get it all over the sheets when you sleep between the first and second part of the paint application? Do you paint by hand? Judging my the amount of time it takes, it seems like you must.

Yes, it's PAX (I mix my own from pros-aide and ordinary acrylic paint) and yes it's all applied by hand, although I'm planning on using an airbrush and some alcohol based paints to temporarily 're-activate' the PAX base for the application of stripes in the future

PAX doesn't come off on the sheets. I could go swimming wearing the stuff. :P

this is going to be AWESOME!! Thank you so much for organizing this Sarah. :)

I'm afraid you can't count me in as being a part of this (not really my thing :P ), but I am really really looking forward to it. :D
